Musical Kaleidoscope

A Classical Music Concert

NEW CONCERT DATE
Nov 26, 2021 (Fri)

8:00 pm @ SOTA Concert Hall

Concert program will be updated by early 2021

CONCERT HIGHLIGHT

Musical Kaleidoscope presents a diverse programme of classical music. This is a cross-continental collaboration between four female artists. Audrey Chung (SG), Carol Ng (SG), Er-Gene Kahng (US), and Samantha Ege (UK) lead with repertoires from different cultures and eras. The programme seeks to bring new experiences to its audience. The theme of women’s empowerment in classical music continues with the Asian premiere of Doreen Carwithen’s Concerto for Piano and Strings.

Special Highlight: Adelyn Koh, the first MFP scholarship recipient, who has undergone professional vocal training, will be performing for the first time LIVE @ Musical Kaleidoscope with the MFP Festival Choir and Orchestra at the concert.

Musical Kaleidoscope aligns with Music For People’s vision to inspire the lives of people through professional music making with the community for the community. Up to 70% of concert proceeds will go towards music education programmes that serve under-privileged citizens. Music For People advocates that the blessing of music must go beyond the concert hall.

CONCERT HIGHLIGHT

DVOŘÁK MASS IN D MAJOR, OP 86

WITH HIS OWN LITTLE-KNOWN VERSION OF THE SUNG TEXT

To celebrate the establishment of MUSIC FOR PEOPLE as Singapore’s first international non-profit music charity organization, a performance of Dvořák’s Mass in D will be brought to you for our inaugural concert this October. This showcase is truly a rarity as it will stay true to Dvořák’s own distinctive version of the sung text, which is found in all his original manuscripts but not in any of the commonly-used editions.

Conducted by MFP Artistic Director and Founder, Dr. Audrey Chung, with a choir of seventy voices from China, Hong Kong SAR, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, and the U.S.A., as well as a full festival orchestra.

Come and be the first to hear this authentic version of Dvořák’s Mass LIVE in Singapore!

CELLO CONCERTO IN B MINOR, OP. 104

Dvořák’s cello concerto in B minor is the most often performed cello concerto in the world. Korean-American solo cellist, Robert Choi, will be presenting his very own rendition of this masterpiece, bringing it to life with his diverse and profound interpretation.

The original manuscript of the orchestra version of Dvořák Mass in D Major is being housed by the British Library.  The upcoming concert in Singapore would be the Asia Premier of the original manuscript outside of the Czech Republic.
